The structure of “Turkmenhowayollary” Service includes the Aviation Training School which includes the Personnel Training Center and Simulator Training Center. The Aviation Training School is located in the southeast part of the airport land side and has a separate ac­cess road.

The Aviation Training School is designed and con­structed for simultaneous training of 600 students in various areas: flight and cabin crew, ground handling, the airport personnel etc. The school has 36 fully-equipped classrooms. The hostel is designed to accommodate 150 people for the period of their training course.

Special attention should be paid to the Simulator Training Center, which includes:

  • – B737NG aircraft full-flight simulator (FFS) (including additional premises);
  • – Emergency evacuation simulator CEET (Emergency evacuation simulator from the passenger compartment) with a swimming pool (including additional premises);
  • – B777 and B737 aircraft emergency slides mock-ups;
  • – B777 and B737 aircraft emergency door operation trainers;
  • – Combined Diamond 40NG and Diamond 42NG simulator;
  • – B737 aircraft procedural cabin mock-up for cabin crew training;
  • – fire fighting trainer.

In connection with the rapid computerization of the society, the introduction of sophisticated technologies, the operation of which is associated with a risk to the lives of not only one person, but many and many people, a whole industry of training equipment has emerged. The Simulator Training Center of “Turkmenhovayollary” Service represents high-tech modeling and simulation systems, computer programs and physical models, special techniques designed to prepare each aviator for taking qualitative and fast decisions.

The prin­ciples of development of prac­tical skills with simultaneous theoretical preparation are introduced in modern training simulators and training programs. Realization of such ap­proach became possible in connection with the rapid development in the field of creation of virtual reality. On the basis of these technologies numerous training simulators were developed, allowing modeling of various flight situations with the highest detail.

One of them is full flight simulator of B-737NG aircraft. This simulator with a high degree of realism simulates the flight of the aircraft and allows to practice the skills of piloting the Boeing 737NG aircraft at all stages of flight, as well as the technology of the crew actions in standard, non-standard and emergency situations in real time.

This simulator was developed by the Canadian firm "CAE Inc.", which is the world leader in the field of aviation simulators manufacturing . The company is a veteran in this industry: founded in 1947, its first simulator was released in 1950. Modern simulators are high-tech equipment that not only reproduces the flight deck, but also creates a realistic computer simulation of the entire environment. The interior of the pilot's cabin of the simulator according to the internal geometric dimensions, composition and placement of the equipment corresponds to the interior of the flight deck of the aircraft at a scale of 1: 1. Simulators imitate external weather conditions: temperature, pressure, wind direction and speed, turbulence, wind shear, cloudiness, precipitations, visibility range, runway condition. Aerodynamic models of simulators reflect the influence of the weight and the alignment of the aircraft, taking into account fuel consumption during flight, weather conditions, engine operating modes, and the proximity of the earth's surface to the effect of the screen. The control system reproduces the control of the aircraft via three channels (rudder, elevator, ailerons). These channels simulate the load on the controls depending on the flight mode.

Avionics installed in the simulator cabin, in terms of composition and functions, corresponds to an integrated instrument equipment complex. The visual environment simulator generates in real time and presents to the crew a realistic image of the space visible from the cockpit, including the terrain, ground, air, movable and fixed objects under various weather conditions and time of day.

Simulators imitate acoustic noises of engines, screws, retraction and extension of the undercarrige, noise of wheels on the runway during take-off and landing. Such simulators allow the pilots to develop the skills of distribution and switching of attention, sensorimotor skills when working with controls and instruments in preparation for flight and flight operations, navigational problems solving, both in visual flight and instrumental flight, and also enable to work out the technique and interaction in the crew, conduct radio communication, perform procedures at various stages of the flight. In view of the absence of such simulators in our region, the offering by the “Turkmenhowayollary” Services on the use of its training simulator by airlines of other countries may be considered . "САЕ Inc." has about 50 training centers around the world and also offers accompanying maintenance and technical support for the simulators it supplies. In particular, "САЕ Inc." expressed readiness for joint technical maintenance of all simulators installed in the training center of “Turkmenshowaoyollary” Service.

In the list of other simulation systems available here, the combined training simulator of DA-40, DA-42 should be noted. It was delivered and installed by the Austrian company - the manufacturer of this type of aircraft - "Diamond Aircraft", which in addition to the production of aircraft, during its existence, acquired its own flight schools and airport. This is a new-generation simulator, in which the technology of computer and visual systems are combined with complex software. The workplace of the instructor with a front view is equipped with a touch screen, which allows the instructor to monitor and supervise the process of controlling the training flight. Thanks to the modern visual system, the simulator has no analogues among similar simulators. The replaceable instrument panel allows the simulator to be used both for training on a single-engine DA-40 aircraft and for a twin-engine DA-42. The cockpit consists entirely of original parts. Simplicity in service and ease of use makes this simulator indispensable for the training of future pilots.

The universal complex of aviation training solutions of “Turkmenehovayollary” Service includes also fire and smoke prevention courses for cabin crew, emergency landing and survival on water procedures, as well as the operation of doors and slides. So, the fire fighting trainer from the German company "Kidde" allows to carry out training for pilots and flight attendants to extinguish a fire on board the aircraft and simulate fires in the passenger seat, inside the overhead bins, in the lavatory cubicle or in the galley of the aircraft. The simulator is designed to work with propane gas. Remote control panel allows the operator during the execution of practical tasks to fully control the combustion, produce artificial carbon smoke, turn on ventilation and lighting systems, emergency stop. The simulator is successfully used in the aviation training centers of many large airlines and is completely safe to use in the buildings designed for fire fighting training.

The simulator for the emergency evacuation of the German company "TFC" exactly simulates the inside cabin of the B-737NG aircraft, which is operated by “Turkmenehovayollary” Service. Its capabilities make it possible to work out joint actions of pilots and flight attendants on emergency evacuation of the aircraft during an emergency landing on land and on water. The simulator has a system of mobility and visualization that reproduces takeoff, landing, emergency descent, landing with faulty undercarriage, rolling outside the runway and flying in turbulence. The simulator features additional functions that enable the trainees to practice the fire fighting activities in the aircraft cabin, the use of the main and emergency aircraft exits. The pool and inflatable rafts are designed for training on evacuation of passengers in case of landing on water. Turkmenistan Airlines is the first airline in the CIS to install a simulator of this type in its training center, which makes it possible to offer services for other airlines.

B737 / B777 aircraft door operation trainer manufactured by the German company "TFC" is designed for flight attendants training in opening doors on B737 / B777 aircraft, which are operated by “Turkmenhowayollary”. The trainer is controlled from the instructor's console and allows simulating various conditions: fire, parking at the passenger gate, ditching. Simulators provide an opportunity to get skills in using intercom control panels, lighting in the cabin of the aircraft, familiarize with the rules of control and use of inflatable emergency slides installed on the aircraft. In addition, the instructor is able to set various malfunctions of the aircraft door, for example, a tight opening or jamming of the door, a malfunction of the system of inflation and the extension of the emergency slide.

B777 and B737 aircraft emergency inflatable slides mock-ups are intended for practicing actions, if necessary, to quickly leave the plane and evacuate passengers from it. In view of the fact that the time factor is crucial for saving the lives of passengers and crew during evacuation in emergency cases, this type of training is given great attention in all airlines of the world.

Another "TFC" simulator is an exact copy of the B-737 aircraft cabin and is intended for flight attendants training, working out procedures for preflight preparation, receiving catering, servicing passengers, using intercom control panels, lighting in the cabin, opening and closing doors of the aircraft. Currently, the Aviation Training School is developing new aircraft. The aviation park of the training center was replenished with two single-engine aircraft Diamond 40NG and two twin-engine Diamond 42NG. In the nearest future, the arrival of two training helicopters "Enstrom-480B" and simulator is expected. Airplanes and helicopters are intended to train young pilots in accordance with international standards for both Civil Aviation and other departments of Turkmenistan.

Training of flight instructors and engineer-technical staff for work on new aircraft is continuing. A hangar for training airplanes and helicopters has been built for aircraft maintenance.

The new center will contribute to the successful accomplishment of the tasks to improve the activities of “Turkmenhowayollary” Service, the effective training of highly qualified specialists, and the creation of optimal conditions for the acquisition of knowledge and skills by aviation specialists in accordance with high international criteria.
