THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN GAVE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATIONS COMPLEX

At an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on February 9, the results of the work of the transport and communications complex for 2023 were summed up. As reported by the head of the Agency of Transport and Communications, Mammetkhan Chakyev, the growth rate for the execution of work and provision of services in the complex as a whole amounted to 121 percent, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

Last year, the growth rate of cargo transportation by road, rail, air, sea and river transport reached 103.5 percent, and in passenger transportation - 105.7 percent.

The growth rate of service provision for the indicated period for the Türkmendemirýollary agency was 106.4 percent, the Türkmenawtoulaglary agency - 118 percent, the Türkmenhowaýollary agency - 192.2 percent, the Türkmendeňizderýaýollary agency - 106.1 percent, the Türkmenaraga agency tnaşyk "- 111.5 percent.

Information was also provided on the progress of implementation of the “Concept for the development of the digital economy in Turkmenistan for 2019–2025.”

A separate topic of the report was the results of past meetings of joint working commissions on the development of transport and logistics cooperation with foreign countries, as well as investing in the construction of industrial and social facilities for the transport and communications complex in various parts of the country.

Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov focused on the priority tasks for the further development of the industry. In this context, the importance of expanding transit corridor routes, increasing the volume and quality of passenger and cargo transportation, and increasing all types of services in the field of transport and communications was noted.

It is necessary to continue to modernize the country's railway system, in particular, to strengthen its material and technical base to increase capacity.

Particular emphasis was placed on the need to systematically replenish the fleet of motor transport enterprises with modern buses, taxis and trucks of various types, as well as expand the range of services provided to the population.

It is necessary to continue to take practical steps to reconstruct existing and build new air harbors in the country, as well as continue work on opening international flights to new economically more profitable directions and expanding cargo transportation routes, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized.

The head of state instructed to fully utilize the potential of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, the Balkan shipbuilding and ship repair plant.

The head of the Agency was also given instructions regarding modernization in accordance with the requirements of modern communications.
